Please note that the DIY kit options will ship without a waistboard and will also exclude cabling needed to hook-up all your electronics.

Based on the Shapeoko 2 (and later the X-carve) from inventables, the machine that started the CNC revolution over in the States. Makerslide South Africa followed suit and started the same revolution here in South Africa.

The FB1 is still the easiest most cost effective way to join the CNC-club. (for something a bit more rigid, have a look at the FB2, a C-beam based clone of the workbee CNC)

In addition to this the machine's size can easily be altered, it can be supplied as a full kit or mechanical kit only, and adding a double gantry firms up the Z axis considerably.

The FB1 is available in various sizes, and can be driven by either Nema 17's or Nema 23's,  from June 2020 10mm belt and a leadscrew on the Z-axis became standard along with 1Nm Nema 23 steppers on the X and Y axis and a Nema 17 on the Z-axis.

Due to the magnitude of options each order is unique, if you can't find the configuration you need please contact us to discuss your build: sales@fatbob.co.za
